Who we support

We are not just suppliers of quality street furniture, but also a partner to anyone who wants to make a public space into something extraordinary.

reSITE

What unites us and landscape architect Martin Barry is a love for cities and public spaces. Born in New York and now living in Prague, Martin founded reSITE in 2012 as a platform for making cities more pleasant to live in, creating a global community of leading figures across different sectors. This non-profit organisation aims to offer a fresh perspective on urban planning, and to encourage synergy between urbanism, architecture, politics, culture and economics in a world of ever-growing cities. The projects and findings of these internationally respected professionals are presented to the broader professional public, and non-experts too, at annual international conferences and events. It is an honour for us to support an initiative for a better life in better cities. As a testament to the success and outreach of reSITE, a number of major figures from the fields of architecture and public planning have been welcomed to the Czech Republic, and the 2018 edition was even named Event of the Year.

ARCHIP

The only architecture school in central Europe whose primary language is English. ARCHIP is a private university college, accredited for Bachelor’s and Master’s qualifications, based at the DOX Center for Modern Art, and thanks to support from partners like us it can offer students a wide range of bursaries. ARCHIP counts successful practising architects like Janek Schindler and Jaroslav Wertig, theorist Adam Gebrian and award-winning designer Jerry Koza among its teaching staff.

KRUH

Of course we care about the building projects we supply with benches and other street furniture, but raising awareness among users of buildings and public spaces is just as important to us. At Kruh both these missions come together, which is why we have come together with Kruh – a civic association dedicated to promoting architecture. It was created as a voluntary student society at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague in 2001. They arrange lectures and seminars, as well as the popular festival Den architektury (Architecture Day). We gladly support any effort to make connections between architects and the inhabitants of towns and cities.

Superstudio

Supporting students and their work is part of our DNA. Many noteworthy and commercially successful mmcité products were created by designers who hadn’t yet completed their studies. In order for both their studies and work to be as super as possible, we decided to support the Superstudio project. Superstudio is a competition of ideas for students in higher education, which is aimed at currently relevant topics in cities and wider society from the perspective of architecture and urban planning. It encourages critical thinking, interdisciplinary co-operation, and the ability to instantly formulate and defend your ideas. Students have 24 hours to prepare for the task, then 200 seconds to present their project to a professional panel. We love to see creativity and innovative approaches, just as much from the organisers as from the students! It’s super to be a part of it.

Manifesto

A stylish place to sit down where culture and gastronomy thrive. This is Manifesto. Prague had been waiting for an event like this for a long time, and we are proud that with our support it could come to fruition. It is part of an initiative from the non-profit organisation reSITE, which we also support. A forgotten corner of town has been transformed into a unique venue for refined design where people can spend time together, and where our comfortable furniture is right at home. At Manifesto, carefully selected culinary concepts from around the world intermingle with a programme of cultural events. In addition, it is the first entirely cashless venue in Prague. The future is here, and we can’t be left behind.

CEZAAR

Emphasising quality architecture as a fundamental step to improving the surroundings we live in. Cultivating the need to develop quality architecture in the public consciousness. These are two of the key goals of the Slovak Chamber of Architects, and they have given rise to an annual building awards contest, CE ZA AR. The awards are given out in 6 categories: Family homes, Apartment blocks, Residential and industrial buildings, Interior, Exterior, and Architecture phenomenon. We would like to congratulate all nominees, but we're especially crossing our fingers, understandably, for those whose project includes some of our street furniture.

The Street

You don’t just tolerate the street, you live it! Long live The Street. The goal of this all-day international conference is for people with something to say about the development of public spaces to come together. Here, prominent figures and professionals, who would never otherwise have the chance, can meet and discuss real problems which affect the whole world. Our goal is to bring not just clear solutions and street furniture products, but also to be an initiator of meetings and discussions which enrich public spaces and move us forwards. It is for this reason that The Street was created, to welcome urban planners, architects and journalists to the Baťa Institute in Zlín each and every year.

Plac Na Glanc

Miasto Ogrodów is a cultural institution in the Polish city of Katowice, and we are particularly excited by the Plac Na Glanc project, which we have decided to support. Its goal is to educate and transform the public consciousness of public spaces. It serves as proof that citizens have an impact on how their immediate surroundings look, moreover, that they are responsible for it. Plac Na Glanc offers the chance to nominate a yard, square or space which deserves renovation. The nominated places receive design and architecture support from the MEDS international student initiative. Our Polish branch, mmcité, has equipped them with park benches, sun loungers and the necessary equipment. We are working together on a mission for more beautiful cities around the world.

Landscape festival

Landscape architecture in the Czech Republic isn’t given the platform it deserves, which is why Landscape festival was created. Its core idea is to raise public awareness of the scale, sense and significance of the field of landscape architecture in relation to contemportary architecture, art, and public space. Through architectural and artistic installations, exhibitions, debates and events, the festival stresses the importance of public and green spaces for a city. It seeks out derelict and disputed areas in the city which have the potential to become new centres for cultural and civic activity. These places then try to bring site-specific installations and events to life, and cultivate and outline their possible future development. mmcité furniture can’t be left out of something as big as this.

Partnerships are essential for us, and both a challenge and a commitment to reach our goals together. We also support:
