The Allentown Arts Walk, located in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is a dedicated pathway in the downtown area that connects various cultural, artistic, and social hubs, encouraging pedestrian exploration and community interaction. Mmcité provided multiple configurations of Landscape with LED lighting to enhance the pedestrian experience. In addition, our Woody benches with LED lighting were strategically placed near connectors to streets. Our Prax litter bins are subtle punctuations of site furnishings as needed throughout the project.
As part of the city’s revitalization, the Arts Walk is lined with public art installations, murals, sculptures, and often hosts events, live music, and pop-up exhibitions. The space aims to support local artists and enrich the community by making art accessible to everyone, fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates creativity.
The Walk links several major points, including the PPL Center, Arts Park, and the Allentown Art Museum, and is bordered by cafes, restaurants, and shops, which contribute to a lively atmosphere. It exemplifies urban placemaking by integrating public art with functional, pedestrian-friendly design to enhance Allentown’s downtown area and serve as a welcoming space for residents and visitors alike.
This design aimed to improve connectivity between various parts of Allentown’s arts district, linking the Arts Walk to Hamilton Street. The project incorporated seating, performance spaces, and community-centric features, transforming the area into a vibrant public space that supports social interaction and cultural activities.
