A phoenix among park benches. This is Emau. Emau is replacing its conceptually similar predecessor, the much-loved Diva, in mmcité‘s regular product catalogue.
As designers we are never standing still, we live for innovation and are conscious of our influence on public space. We created Emau to be a product with a new, fresh and more technologically advanced manufacturing process.
This is how Emau came to be. An outdoor bench with a continuous sheet of wooden slats joining the seat and backrest into one elegant whole, which stands out in all types of public space. Alternatively, swap the bold wooden slats for steel and watch Emau all but disappear. The bench‘s beautifully slim side profile draws inspiration from the brutalist architecture of the 1960s, which wholly embraces function while upholding maximum aesthetic value. It is highly resistant against vandalism and extreme weather. The Emau Solo model stands on just two legs, which not only creates an even more slimline aesthetic character, but also makes it easier to anchor the bench on a hill and clean the area underneath.
Legs made of recycled and fully recyclable cast aluminium. The seat and backrest are both made from wooden slats discreetly but firmly joined to the frame. All two or four legs can be seamlessly anchored to the ground.
